Our Programmes
Rona Foundation advocates for the inclusion of rural widows in gender and human rights spheres, using a three prong approach for widows to contribute, demand & respond to social injustices and inequalities.
Know your rights
Educating widows through a series of transformative workshops to advance their rights and be change makers in their communities
Improve your livelihood
Empowering and funding widow groups and widow entrepreneurs with matching fund (interest free grant) and seed capital to improve their businesses.
Protect and sustain widow rights
Through policy advocacy, we champion outlawing and criminalising harmful widowhood practices that deny widows their body autonomy, rights and dignity.
Girls Lead: We know girls are powerful! We make it our mission to help them to know it from a young age, and keep reminding them.
In partnership with the local primary school, using a ‘catch them young’ model, we ignite power in girls by teaching them the skills to thrive and believe in their ability to be unstoppable. Currently, we mentor more than 150 girls in Orengo and Uhendo primary schools through leadership summits and boot camps during the holiday seasons.
