African Widows Support Network (AWSN)

We are the convener of the African Widows Support Network (AWSN), that unites 13 widow-led organizations across Africa i.e IFESIDDI (Congo), Howard Foundation (Uganda), ZOWA

(Zambia), Widows Struggle Foundation (South Africa), Wicare Lokota Foundation (Nigeria),ZAWIA (Zanzibar), Rukondo Widows (Uganda), Naseria Foundation (Tanzania) amongst others; fostering communication, sharing opportunities, and driving collaborative actions.

AWSN recently organized the inaugural African Widows Summit, held on June 20-21, 2024, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Zanzibar. The summit brought together 350 participants, including

gender ministers, First Ladies, and AU leaders from 11 countries, to address reforms for widows' rights. Moderated by Ms. Asha Hussein Mussa, the event was graced by Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, who emphasized the need for quality healthcare, protection,and dignity for widows across Africa.

 

 

KELA ALLIANCE

We are the co-lead of KELA ALLIANCE, a network of grassroots Public Benefit Organizations (PBOs), including CBOs, working to provide emergency response and long-term support to
underserved and underrepresented communities through coordinated efforts, advocacy, and sustainable development initiatives. The Alliance consists of 15 member organizations across
40 counties, including 8 Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), 2 youth-led, 2 refugee-focused, 2 working with PWDs, and 1 providing legal aid. The Community Mutual Trust Fund

(CMTF), managed by KELA Secretariat, empowers local CSOs to address crises in vulnerable populations, emphasizing localized, timely support.

The Federation of Limitless Women in Africa (FELIWA)

We are a co-lead at the Federation of Limitless Women in Africa (FELIWA), a loose network of Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs) collaborating with ForumCiv peers i.e. Isiolo Gender
Watch and Wajir Radio, alongside other grassroots allies in Africa. Currently, FELIWA supports 9 women-led organizations, all operational for less than five years, across ASAL and Lake
Region counties, including Kerio Valley CSOs focusing on conflict and climate change. We also have ongoing engagements with women-led CSOs from the Coast region, strengthening their
capacity and impact.

Inclusive Futures Coalition (IFC)

We are the co-convener of Inclusive Future Coalition (IFC), a coalition of locally founded and led organizations working within their communities on humanitarian and development
projects in Siaya County. Currently, IFC partners with 7 member organizations, which include existing Rona partners or those approved by the IFC Secretariat. Additionally, members may be
nominated by other IFC members, particularly those serving special target groups or focusing on underserved communities and unique niches. The coalition also includes approved
international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) as Ex Officio members, with specific,agreed-upon focus areas.
